Journal Prompts
There is enough on this PDF for the year, and we have already done some in class, but there are many prompts that the kids can write about. I also let them draw pictures, use color, and be as creative as they want. BUT, they must write. I usually set the goal as 5 sentences. |

Math Spiral Reviews

Use this chart as a tic-tac-toe board to have the kids practice their engineering skills! |

storyline online
Storyline Online is a phenomenal resources to look at books and have them read aloud to you. Actors and Actresses read picture books as the illustrations come to life on the screen. We often look at these books in the classroom, and it is a great way to have kids reading and listening.

In full disclosure - I do not have the directions to log into this resource. However, please refer to the pink paper that came home in your child's purple folder on Friday. All of the directions are listed there.
North Carolina Museum of ARt
Use the museum website to search the entire permanent collection of art pieces. Have the kids observe a piece and then complete an I Notice + I Wonder chart about their observations.
You can also use any piece of art and create a writing prompt around it. For example,
Write a conversation between two of the characters in this painting.
How do you think this painting/piece of art would be different if it was painted in this century?
Imagine you were the artist. Do you think you would have added any more details, or done something different?
What do you think is the story behind this piece of art? Why do you think the artist created it?

puzzles
This is my favorite resource. Puzzles give the kids a break from screen time, and require critical thinking. AND, they can be done as a family. I think this is a wonderful home-learning experience.
